Thursday Oct. 2, 2025 Chester River and Lankford Creek 36 miles and 4.1 hours
We had only been to Chestertown once by boat. Longest trip we ever made with the Silverton. That boat had a planing hull and liked to run. It also had twin 350 HP gas engines that liked to burn fuel. Back then I could make the boat payments, I could make the slip payments, but it took me all winter to pay off those fuel bills! We remember it as a fun town full of historic buildings and good restaurants. Also remember strong winds making the boat so rolly that Martha had to stay out on the fixed dock as she was getting nauseous. Our plan was anchoring for a night and then getting a slip at the only marina in Chestertown for Friday and Saturday. They have a farmers market Saturday morning and we're getting pretty low on provisions. Unfortunately, no room as a yacht club already reserved the slips for a fall trip there. We still decide to push on. We'll anchor in Lankford Creek. Another new location for us. Beautiful scenery as we cruise up the narrowing Chester River and Lankford Creek.

| Pretty shoreside farmhouse |
| Lots of duck blinds. They definitely like waterfowl hunting around here. |
Fishing pound nets are a common sight. Most are around the shore but we've seen a few in more open bay waters |
| A sunny day, light breeze and warm temperatures. Ideal for a sailor |
| Waterman on his way home with the day's catch of crabs |
Tuck into a delightfully peaceful anchorage called Wann Cove. Another great open cove but offering protection from today's ESE winds. Farmland on both sides of the creek behind the wooded shorelines. Nobody here but us.

Friday-Saturday Oct. 3-4, 2025 Decide to move over to Lankford Bay Marina for a couple days. Nothing wrong with the anchorage, but it's a bit remote. The marina has courtesy cars (three!) which will allow us to visit a few towns. So a very quick jaunt over and we're set. Then we'll be able to head to Chestertown on Sunday.

| A little mist on the water (and tiny rainbow) as we prepare to raise anchor and leave the anchorage |
Decide to drive over to Rock Hall for the afternoon. Made a full day of it. Late lunch at the waterfront Harbor Shack restaurant, a flight at Rock Hall Brewery, a scoop of Java Chip ice cream and a little provisioning at the local grocery. Saturday we headed out early for Chestertown. We'll take the boat up there Sunday, but they have a nice farmers market on Saturday from 8-12. That market runs right down the center of town for two blocks. Has been in existence for 250 years! Excellent selection of local produce, meats and baked goods. Mushroom vendor has a selection of six varieties that are going fast. We buy some shitake, cremini and oysters. There's a full-size grocery store in town so we load up on heavy and bulky items that are best transported via a car - water, paper towels, etc. Back at the boat Martha takes advantage of the free laundry machines. A few boat projects for me, dinner and we watch the recorded Clemson football game. Nice to see them finally playing a game like they should with a decisive win over UNC!

| Lankford Bay Marina - been awhile since we had to deal with fixed docks |
| Closest we could get to a sunset picture at the marina |
| The docks in the sunset picture got covered by seagulls every morning |
